Index
An index to two White Plains daily newspapers for items of local interest was kept on a card file by staff of the White Plains Public Library beginning in the mid-1920s. It covers The Daily Reporter (1925-1941) and the Reporter Dispatch (1941- Feb. 1986.). The card file is in a staff area of the library. Drawers can be retrieved for patrons upon request. The index is divided into two parts, Westchester County articles and White Plains articles. Obituaries and deaths printed in the newspaper are recorded in the index, under “Biography” from 1925-1976 and under “Deaths” from 1976-1986. While the index is extensive, not every name or article printed in the paper during the period covered was recorded.
