Spooky Movie Festival

Movies continue in the Trove in October with a great selection of classic and new family friendly films with a spooky Halloween twist! Here’s a quick look at the titles we’ll be showing in Galaxy Hall throughout the month of October.

Frankenweenie (2012, PG, 90 mins.)
Saturday, 10/5 at 2:00 p.m.
Suburban schoolboy Victor resurrects his deceased dog Sparky as part of a science experiment, and he must contend with the unexpected complications of having an undead house pet.

The Witches (1990, PG, 92 mins.)
Sunday, 10/6 at 2:00 p.m.
Classic film based on the Roald Dahl book. A boy's vacation to England takes a turn when he discovers a witches' convention, that is planning on turning all children into mice! Can he stop them, even after he's been turned to a mouse? Starring Anjelica Huston, Mai Zetterling. Creatures by Jim Henson.

Coraline (2009, PG, 100 mins.)
Saturday, 10/12 at 2:00 p.m.
Stop-motion animation tale of a daring youngster who finds a magic portal that whisks her into a seemingly perfect, parallel world.

Hocus Pocus (1993, PG, 96 mins.)
Sunday, 10/13 at 2:00 p.m.
Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy star in this classic funny film, about three 17th-century witches, hanged for their murderous crimes, who are resurrected on Halloween in modern-day Salem by an unsuspecting boy, and must now figure out how to get them back in the ground.

The Addams Family (1991, PG-13, 110 mins.)
Wednesday, 10/16 at 6:00 p.m.
Meet the zany, spooky Addams Family! Watch the two classic 90s films on October 16 and 23, and go see the new animated film in theaters starting October 11. In The Addams Family, a stranger shows up on the Addams' doorstep, claiming to be a long-lost uncle. However, he is really a ringer in cahoots with a lawyer; and the two are trying to dupe the ghoulish family out of their fortune.

ParaNorman (2012, PG, 87 mins.)
Saturday, 10/19 at 2:00 p.m.
A morbid boy with the power to speak to the dead gathers an army of friends to fight seven zombies brought to life by an ancient witch's curse. Meanwhile, the terrified townspeople prepare to do battle with the supernatural.

Casper (1995, PG, 110 mins.)
Sunday, 10/20 at 2:00 p.m.
A paranormal expert and his daughter bunk in an abandoned house populated by three mischievous ghosts and one friendly one.

The Addams Family Values (1993, PG-13, 94 mins.)
Wednesday, 10/23 at 6:00 p.m.

A haunted dwelling and three teens determined to bring it down.

Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost (1999, NR, 77 mins.)
Sunday, 10/27 at 2:00 p.m.
Scooby and the Gang must solve a spooky mystery in a haunted New England town at Halloween.

Goosebumps (2015, PG, 103 mins.)
Tuesday, 10/29 at 6:00 p.m.
Teens and horror writer R.L. Stine (played by Jack Black!) battle the author's monstrous creations after they come to life and wreak havoc on their small town.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (2005, G, 67 mins.)
Wednesday, 10/30 at 4:00 p.m.
Roo, Pooh, and their new friend Lumpy set out on a fun Halloween adventure.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween (2018, PG, 100 mins.)
Wednesday, 10/30 at 6:00 p.m.
Two boys unleash Halloween monster mayhem when they open a mysterious locked book they found in an old abandoned house – including witches, werewolves, and giant gummy bears.
