April and May Book Discussions for Kids and Teens

Calling all readers! Join our Youth Services librarians in reading and discussing some truly awesome books. Each month, we host two Project LIT book discussions: one for kids, and one for teens. Note: you must have a Zoom account to attend these programs; sign up for a free account here.

Project LIT Book Club for Kids and Tweens

In April, our Project LIT Kids Book Discussion group will be meeting on Wednesday, April 14th at 4:30 p.m. We will be reading The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Pérez! Children in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade are invited to join us for a discussion as well as a trivia game. Please use this link to register! You can place a hold on the print book using our catalog here. Project LIT Book Club for Teens

On Friday, April 9th at 6:30 p.m., we’ll discuss Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo. It’s a novel in verse, in honor of Poetry Month. The story is about two half-sisters, one in the Domenican Republic and one in New York, who meet following their father’s death in a plane crash. On Friday, May 14th at 6:30 p.m., we’ll discuss Slay by Brittany Morris. Kiera is an honors student who is also secretly the developer of a popular online video game. When a real-world murder is tied to the game, Kiera has to figure out how to protect herself. Slay is available as an eBook through OverDrive and in the library’s print collection.
