The Art of Storytelling

Kids in grades 6-8, join Alex Barile, graduate student at the School of Visual Arts, for this 3-session drawing program. Participants will learn fundamentals of designing a character, figure drawing, how to create a layout, specific angle shots and their meaning, what not to do, and continuity. Snacks will be served! Smart $ for Teens: Part of the Allstate Readiness Series

Join us on Saturday, November 17 at 2:00 PM or Wednesday, November 28 at 6:00 PM. This workshop developed for middle school and high school students, teaches smart-money behaviors. It provides an overview of the common money tools teens will use throughout their lives such as credit cards, checking accounts and how to budget their money. Because dumb money is not an acceptable form of currency.

Car Care Basics for Teens

Calling all teens! Join us on October 20 at 2:30 PM to learn some simple things you can do to keep your car running from Richard Manzino, instructor at Saunders Technical High School in Yonkers, NY.  He will explain how your engine works, show you how to fill fluids and the correct way to fill your tires with air. He will also talk about which cars are best for new drivers and answer any question. Participants will receive a tire gauge. This program is provided by the Allstate Foundation, part of the Allstate Readiness series.

Teen Summer Reading Program

“Own The Night” This summer the library is offering a lot of great programs for teens. Wednesday afternoons we have hip-hop dancing. We are having a Planetarium show on July 25. August 15 we are making scented soaps & bath bombs. We will be writing horror stories and creating an eBook on August 15; and August 17 is our final party. You can win great prizes like a Nook Tablet by signing up on our summer reading page.

Teens – come, beat the heat, eat free pizza and watch a movie. Pizza & Movie Saturdays is back this summer in time for the hot weather.
