Puppet Playtime with Nicola Rose

Actress and puppeteer Nicola Rose will bring her repertoire of interactive games, songs and stories to the Library for an 11:00 a.m. performance on Wednesday, July 11th.  “’Puppet Playtime’ is a series of short vignettes—games and stories—for toddlers and pre-schoolers,” she says. “I will be handing out scarves, toys and musical instruments so that the kids can play along with me. Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 p.m. This is a bilingual program presented in Spanish and English. Immigration officer Shyconia Burden-Noten of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services will demonstrate a US citizenship mock interview to help citizenship applicants prepare for their own interview. Black History Matters Roundtable

Join us Wednesday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. for a panel discussion about significant black leaders and stories from Westchester's past. We will hear from contemporary leaders and members of families with multi-generational roots in White Plains. Items from the White Plains Collection, including local newspapers, photographs, and genealogical resources will be available to attendees. Story Theater with Jonathan Kruk

“I grew up on tall tales and day dreams,” says Jonathan Kruk, who went from “regaling his rambunctious brothers with bedtime tales” to becoming a master storyteller who has entertained elementary-school-aged children throughout North America for nearly three decades. He has become a Halloween and holiday-season perennial at the historic Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow with his renditions of Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. To celebrate the re-opening of the first floor, the Foundation held its annual fall Gala in the Hub on the evening of October 21st. Nearly 200 people attended the event, which marked the Foundation's 22nd anniversary. A highlight of the program was hearing from author Sloane Crosley who spoke about growing up in White Plains. All guests received a copy of Crosley's most recent book, the bestselling novel, The Clasp. Art in the Castle is rolling out its second season with the help of Lily Fearon, a talented Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate at Purchase College.
