Family Fun Day Readers’ Fair this Sunday!

On Sunday, April 10, the Trove will host a Readers' Fair for the whole family. Outside on the Library Plaza from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. will be Hudson Valley Llamas and a fire engine from the White Plains Fire Department. There will also be balloon animals, bubbles, a chalk drawing contest, a scavenger hunt, and outdoor games. Inside in the Trove will be facepainting, storytimes and crafts. At 4:00 p.m., Robert the Guitar Guy will perform after a special storytelling session. Funded by the White Plains Library Foundation.

Children Walk with George Moses Horton

Children at White Plains Public Library are learning about George Moses Horton as they walk The Trove's Black History StoryWalk® which is on display in the Library's art gallery during the month of February through Sunday, March 13, 2016. The StoryWalk® is based on the book: Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses Horton, written and illustrated by Don Tate. The Trove at the White Plains Public Library and White Plains Juneteenth Heritage Committee have joined together to kick off February as Black History Month on Sunday, January 31 in The Trove. Books and pizza! What could be better?? Here at The TROVE our Book Bunch groups feast on this perfect pairing! Book Bunch is the TROVE’s book discussion program for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th and 6th graders. It offers students an opportunity to read something fun, new and challenging, and then talk about it with other kids over pizza at Uno Chicago Grill. Chess Challenge with Joshua Colas

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2-4 p.m.–Calling all chess players, 3rd Grade through High School! White Plains HS Senior, and international chess champion, Joshua Colas will play two rounds of “simul” chess, where he plays up to 16 players at the same time! The first round starts at 2 p.m. and the second is at 2:45. Preregistration is not required; tickets for both sessions will be given out starting at 1:30. Battle of the Books

Here at the Trove an elite group of voracious readers are preparing for battle. They will be marching off to the Westchester Library System’s “Battle of the Books” to be staged at Ossining High School on October 14th. Storywalk in the Park

The City of White Plains Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the White Plains Public Library, is pleased to introduce StoryWalk at Bryant-Mamaroneck Park. The StoryWalk combines a children's story with a popular walking route. Children's books are selected, the pages separated, laminated, and placed along a walking path at regular intervals so readers can follow the story as they walk the route. Trove Lego® Club Spring Events

The Trove Lego® Club has been busy this Spring! In April, Trove Lego® Club members displayed sculptures at the Family Fun event, April 18th and 19th at Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, NY. As exhibitors, they received free tickets for themselves and their families. This was a wonderful opportunity to publicly display their work and participate in some exciting Lego® activities in a grand and historic setting.
