This Week on Martine

News from the White Plains Public Library

EDGE-Versary 2018

On Friday, December 14 the Library closed as usual at 6:00 p.m.—unless, that is, you were a teen. Over 40 teens attended an after-hours party to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Edge, our teen library.

Activities included six modern and retro video game tournaments with prizes, a Harry Potter mystery to solve, table-top games, a craft table with button making and Perler beads, a technology playground full of electronics to tinker with, robot races with prizes for the winners, and a Virtual Reality cooperative puzzle challenge. And yes, there was plenty of food.

Feedback from those who attended was overwhelmingly positive, with one teen remarking: “I thought the event was incredible. Seeing all the family from the Edge united made me really happy. I mostly enjoyed arts and crafts.” Another teen said: “It was really fun. You should do it when the Edge turns 10.”

Thank you again to all of the Edge's supporters and program sponsors over the last five years: the City of White Plains, Board of Trustees of the White Plains Public Library, White Plains Library Foundation, Friends of the White Plains Library, Shinnyo-en Foundation, Allstate Foundation, Best Buy Foundation, American Library Association and Google, and Argus.
