News from the White Plains Public Library

Best Books of 2018

Last week, we published a list of the top books of the year from the folks at Library Reads, and asked you to vote on your favorite. Hundreds of people responded. Way out in front, with 25 percent of the vote, was Kristin Hannah’s novel The Great Alone. Tara Westover’s inspiring memoir Educated came in second, while Circe by Madeline Miller and There There by Tommy Orange were tied for third. Popular write-ins included Ponti by Sharlene Teo—a fictional debut about friendships in contemporary Singapore—and the immensely clever espionage thriller Who Is Vera Kelly? by Rosalie Knecht. Thanks to everyone who voted!
