Short Story Film Screening: Frida
A new tradition of White Plains librarian Barbara Wenglin is to wrap each short-story discussion series with a film relevant to the themes explored in the works the group discussed. Last year’s selections of When a Man Loves a Woman and The Swimmer complemented the Shaken and Stirred anthology, as both films dealt with alcoholism. And with this season’s readings from Diana Secker Tesdell’s Stories of Art and Artists, Wenglin chose the perfect match in Frida, the 2002 biography of the Mexican surrealist painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) that was a breakthrough for actress and co-producer Salma Hayek. The film will be shown Thursday, January 10, from 2:00-4:30 p.m. in the Library’s second-floor auditorium.
