Book Clubs for
One Book, One White Plains

Do you belong to a book club? Then consider discussing Celeste Ng's Everything I Never Told You this coming September or October. Everything I Never Told You has been selected for our One Book, One White Plains and we want as many folks as possible to share in the experience. We'll provide copies of the books, support materials—like topics for discussion—and if you want a guest leader, I'd be happy to come to your group and lead the discussion.

Even if you're not in a book group, consider getting a few friends together, or colleagues at work. We'll provide everything mentioned above to make the reading and conversation a success.

If you are interested in copies of the novel, a book group leader, or all of the above, drop me a line.

Thanks,
Brian Kenney

This Week in White Plains

The White Plains Theater Lovers’ Club will meet on Thursday, May 23rd at 6:00 p.m. at the White Plains Community Center, 65 Mitchell Place. Club members will be deciding which Broadway show they would like to attend. Tickets are reserved at the meeting, so please come prepared to make a payment. Music as a Creative Process

How does the creation of music compare to other art forms? Learn how the setting, elements of melody, harmony, and rhythm integrate to form a musical work at a presentation by composer Daniel Perkis tomorrow, May 23rd at 2:00 p.m. Sections of famous works from different musical periods will be played demonstrating these critical elements.

The Artists' Loft

Art Bennett and Lord Judah will lead a jazz and hip-hop workshop next Wednesday, May 29th at 6:00 p.m. Musicians of all musical skill levels welcome. Bring your instrument and any tunes you want to work on, or just bring your ears to relax and listen. Art likes to run a workshop-style event, where you get a chance to see how musicians who have never played before work together to create! An electric piano and a PA will be available.
