A Year in Review

Sometimes it's good to pause and take a look at where you've been—and where you're going. In June, at the end of the Library's fiscal year, we put together a Year in Review that summarizes many of the changes the Library has gone through in the past year, from the completion of The Hub, the opening of the Everyday Healthy Cafe, to new programs and services. Take a look here, or if you prefer to read in print, pick up a copy next time you are in the Library. Thanks go to the Mayor and Common Council for their support of the Library, our Board of Trustees for their leadership, our donors who—through the Foundation—have made so many enhancements possible, and my wonderful colleagues who have met every renovation and change with aplomb.

Happy 100th Anniversary, Rotary

Did you know the Rotary Club of White Plains has been dedicated to service in our community for 100 years? Let’s celebrate together at their Centennial Fundraising Gala on October 19th at the C.V. Rich Mansion. Click here for event details. The White Plains Library Foundation is grateful to be a beneficiary of funds raised at the Centennial Gala. Rotary's generous commitment to strengthen the Library will help fund renovations to the second floor, starting soon. See you at the party!

Call for Teen Volunteers

Thanks to everyone who volunteered at the Library this summer!
Overall, 80 teen volunteers completed 661 hours of community service in the Trove and the Edge in July and August. Our Do Gooders group made 55 dog toys for the Paws Crossed Animal Rescue center in Elmsford, 15 baby blankets for Project Linus, 128 paracord bracelets for military charity Operation Gratitude, four ziploc bags full of earrings for a women’s shelter with the instruction of beading teach Joan Lloyd, and countless birthday cards and placemats for Meals on Wheels. Thank you to the Allstate Foundation for the continued support of our various volunteer programs for teens.

We can't wait to see what our teen volunteers get up to this fall. In addition to our usual fall schedule of Do Gooders meetings, due to the success of our Reading Buddies and STEM Buddies programs this summer, we are extending it into the fall with a weekly session of each program. To find out more and to submit an application, please visit our website.
