Meet White Plains Author Susan Gordon

The Friends of White Plains Library invite you to their 2016 annual meeting on Sunday, May 15 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

We are very pleased to welcome White Plains author Susan J. Gordon. Susan will discuss her latest book Because of Eva: a Jewish Genealogical Journey (Syracuse University Press, 2016), in which the author describes traveling to Eastern Europe and Israel to solve mysteries in her family’s past by delving into World War II and Holocaust history. What began as a seemingly simple search for “Eva,” the elderly relative who had signed Susan’s grandfather’s death certificate in New York long ago, becomes a journey of discovery. More about the book can be found at www.becauseofeva.com. We hope that Susan’s fascinating story will inspire others to pursue their own genealogical journeys.

Susan has been writing ever since she figured out that writing was a good way to make sense of life, especially her own. Her personal essays, articles and short stories have been published in many nationally known magazines and newspapers. She has been a Visiting Artist for the Westchester Arts Council, and a Writer-in-Residence for Victoria magazine. Susan is also the author of the popular Wedding Days: When and How Great Marriages Began. She and her husband, Ken, are long-time members of the White Plains Public Library, where they often took their children and, now, take their grandchildren, too for special events and lots of time for reading.

Refreshments will be served, and copies of Because of Eva will be available for sale and signing.

Do you have contact information for Susan B. Gordon that you can share with me? I just read an article written by her that I saved a lot of years ago. The Title is “My House is Filled With Photos,” and it could have been written by me!
I hope I’ll be able to communicate with her.
    Sincerely,

Hi Emily, this post was written by a former employee in 2016, so unfortunately we do not have current contact info for the author.
