I love audiobooks and I enjoy having the eBook or print version of the story in front of me while listening to the audio. It just works for me! I find that my mind occasionally wanders if I’m only listening to the audio and having the eBook or print version of it helps me to focus. I also have noticed that I tend to read too quickly if I’m just reading an eBook or print version. Whether you’re a fan of audiobooks or have never tried them before, I hope you’ll give a listen to my audiobook recommendations that you can access at home using Hoopla or OverDrive!
For children in grades 5-8.

Honestly, this might be the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to! The plot, characters, and settings are all super enthralling – I don’t think I’ve ever read or listened to a story like this before. I find myself constantly recommending it to folks that come to the library asking for suggestions. This story centers around three children in different parts of time – Friedrich during the rise of Nazi Germany, Mike during the Great Depression, and Ivy during World War II. It combines historical fiction and fantasy as a magical harmonica finds its way into the lives of each kid. It is so beautifully done that it actually made me tear up!
