Coming Soon: Curbside Pickup

We are working at getting the Library in order— reconfiguring our work spaces to create a better experience for staff—but we are excited that we have two milestones coming up.

On Monday, June 8 our book drop will open (24/7) and we're ready for you to return materials. There will be no fines on material returned now until 30 days after the building opens to the public.

Please note that all material will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in and reshelved, following the latest guidelines from the CDC and best practices around sanitizing surfaces. So be patient if it takes a few days for your account to be updated.

On Monday, June 15 we are initiating contactless, curbside pick-up. This will allow you to request a specific book, DVD, CD, or a selection of materials by phone, and then drive through our cut-away to pick up the items. Available only to White Plains cardholders, this service will be available Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. Details to come.

Great news Brian, welcome back! When do you think we will be able to order books from other branches of the Westchester Library System?

We expect to have interlibrary loan up and running by the end of June. We are working with the other Westchester libraries—all of whom are coming online at different times— to make this happen. Stand by!

Hello Lesley. We will definitely have curbside for walkers. Our Curbside Pick-up procedure will be out next week in our newsletter and on the website. See you on the 15th!

  2. wonderful news about curbside pickup — how many books can we “put on hold” or when due we choose books and how many can books can choose for curbside pickup?

    • Kristen, Adult Librarian

Hi Lin, Patrons are allowed to pick up three items per day. When you call us, we will retrieve three items.
Online, you will be able to place the same amount as holds as before but if the item is coming from another Library, the hold will be inactive until our ILL system starts again.
