Project LIT is a global initiative to help kids, tweens, and teens engage with the real events shaking our country and the world at large. As a chapter in the Project LIT Community, the Trove and Edge staff organizes discussions revolving around recommended titles, highlighting and celebrating books that affirm and value all students. Our Project LIT Book Club for Kids & Tweens is for grades 4-8 and our Project LIT Book Club for Teens is for grades 7-12. We’ve been taking a break over the summer from our Project LIT Book Clubs but we’re happy to announce that they will be returning in October!
We have been repeatedly blown away by our discussion participants, who have been smart, insightful, and continue to make connections between the books and the issues currently affecting the world. We hope to encourage participants to become global citizens who will proudly take a stand against injustice and work to make the world a better place.
If you’re interested in Project LIT, talk to your favorite librarian about enrolling your child in our next discussion! Lists of the Project LIT Community book selections (with eBook and audiobook links to OverDrive/Libby & Hoopla) can be found in the Reading Lists section of the Library’s website.
