This Month in the Edge: April

This month, we have several activities going on in the Edge. Drop-in activities have more open availability during the month. Scheduled programs take place at specific times, linked below. Please join us for one or all!

Drop-in Activities:

Nintendo Switch
We'll have our Switch available to play during Edge hours on Tuesdays and Fridays in April.

Do Gooders
Need to earn some community service credit? Drop in and make some cards for Meals on Wheels. Every Saturday in April.

The Edge Book Club: Girl in the Blue Coat

A new book discussion group for teens. This month, we're reading Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse. Girl in the Blue Coat is available in the library catalog and through Libby.

Sit Down & Write

Join us for a series of writing workshops during the school break week. Each day we'll discuss a different element of creative writing, and try out a few exercises. No registration required.

Science Lab: Talewise for Teens
Wednesday April 5 at 3:30 p.m.

Poetry Slam and Open Mic

Sashiko Visible Mending
Wednesday April 12 at 5:00 p.m.

This workshop will highlight the act of mending and textile repair with Sashiko Japanese Embroidery. Students will learn how to patch and repair a rip or hole, reinforce a worn area, and prepare their distressed textile in order to draw a Sashiko grid and pattern of their choice. Igloo VR for Kids: Science School Bus

Experience Virtual Reality (VR) without a headset in the library's newly installed panoramic content room. Views from 360° content and more will be provided in this fun series of programs. Each session will feature unique content. Technology installed by Igloo Vision and funded by the Library Foundation/Optimum.

Laughter Yoga

Laughter is the best medicine! A workshop of breathing and laughing exercises to release stress and promote positive energy taught by Dr. Vinodray Shah.

A fun hour of Book Bunch discussion on the book They Call Me Guero by David Bowles, available in the library catalog and through Libby. We will discuss the book together and play a trivia game. The first eight to register will receive a free copy of the book.

Improv Showcase

Ellen Flaks, a popular Improv Specialist, and her troupe of performers will entertain you with their improvised mayhem. audience participation expected and encouraged. Lots of laughter. All ages welcome. This event is rated PG.

From Page to Picture: Everything, Everything

This month's YA book/movie pairing is Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Read the book before the event, then join us to watch the movie and debate the relative merits of each medium. Everything, Everything is available in the library catalog and through Libby.
