This Month in the Edge: March 2023

This month, we have several activities going on in the Edge. Drop-in activities have more open availability during the month. Scheduled programs take place at specific times, linked below. Please join us for one or all!

We'll have our Switch available to play during Edge hours on Tuesdays and Fridays in March.

WOW Factor: Personal Branding for Teens

This educational workshop explores the different tricks and tips for interviewing, and what future employers and admission representatives look for in potential applicants. Presentation by Alexis Penaloza at College of Westchester.

Do Gooders: Card Making
Saturdays March 4, 11, 18, and 25 at 2:00 p.m.

An opportunity for teens in grades 7-12 to earn community service hours. We'll have supplies for teens to make greeting cards. The finished cards will be donated to Meals on Wheels.

Minecraft for Youth

Build your design skills in the Minecraft world with library friends and our library tech specialist, Austin.

Wanderhome Session 3

Go on a virtual tour of a distant place or time, using the library's newly installed panoramic video room, installed by Igloo Vision and funded by the Library Foundation and Optimum. Views from 360° content and more will be provided in this fun series of programs.

From Page to Picture: Ready Player One

This month's YA book/movie pairing is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Read the book before the event, then join us to watch the movie and debate the relative merits of each medium. Ready Player One is available in the library catalog and through Libby.

Common Ground is an in person conversation collaborated by White Plains League of Women Voters, YWCA and the Library. The topic discussed will be how to support the LGBTQ+ community after the Supreme Court Dobbs decision. Teens may earn community service for meaningful participation.

Book Bunch

A fun hour of Book Bunch discussion on the book Dress Coded by Carrie Firestone, available in the library catalog and through Libby. We will discuss the book together and play a trivia game. The first eight to register will receive a free copy of the book.
