Terry Crews is a kid with vision – he knows exactly what he’s going to be, and he has plans for getting there! First step is attending the elite Rock City Academy, which will help him learn the skills and make the connections he needs. But middle school can be hard, especially with determined bullies and condescending teachers. Can Terry find his crew and achieve his goals? Or will the pressure get to him?
Terry Crews’ semi-autobiographical graphic novel is a great exploration of the importance of friends you can trust to have your back and believing in yourself (even and especially when others doubt). The story is compelling and realistic, with lovely illustrations and great messages for any kid to hear and find inspiration in.
Check out the book PW Reviews praised as “an upbeat graphic novel…[that] compassionately depicted Terry’s trials and triumphs…a familiar and affecting story of one kid’s determinations to find his place in the world” and Kirkus Reviews called “a worthwhile read, especially for kids with grand aspirations of their own.”
