The Dia:Beacon: Museum Pass Available Now!

What effect do environments we walk through have on us? And if they affect us, are they in a sense art? You may find yourself asking these or similar questions when you visit the Dia:Beacon museum, which as a White Plains Public Library cardholder you can now do with our new Dia:Beacon Museum Pass. The Greek word “dia” means “through,” and this museum celebrates conceptual art about space and environment.

Operated by the Dia Art Foundation, the Dia:Beacon offers works from the ‘60s to the present. Its collection features many long-term exhibits including Andy Warhol’s “Shadows” (1979), a series of 102 silkscreens of the same image with varying colors and effects; Michael Heizer’s “North, East, South, West” (2003), geometric pits sunk into the floor; and Richard Serra’s “Torqued Ellipses” (1996-2000), massive free-standing steel concave structures that invite exploration. The many windows afford natural light, and a pleasure of this museum is the opportunity to experience its thought-provoking collection in spacious, leisurely surroundings.

The Dia:Beacon is open Friday-Monday – perfect for a visit during a long weekend – from 10:00am-4:00pm. It is located in Beacon, NY, a 10-minute walk from the Metro-North Beacon train station on the Hudson line. The museum pass provides free admission for five visitors at the Dia:Beacon. (Dia has some other locations also; our pass is only for the Dia:Beacon.) To reserve a museum pass, please click here or call us at (914) 422-1400. Note: The Museum Pass Program is only available to White Plains Public Library cardholders.
