How to Maximize Your Time with eBooks

By default, the lending period for eBooks is seven (7) days, but that time can be extended to 14 days. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Find a title you would like to borrow and is available for immediate checkout.*
  2. Tap on Borrow.
  3. Where it displays You are borrowing [title] for 7 days, tap on 7 days.
  4. Select 14 days in the dropdown list.
  5. Tap on Borrow.
From that point on, all the OverDrive eBooks you check out under your account will be borrowed for 14 days.

*Please note that if you place a hold on a title and you have automatic download turned on, you will not have the opportunity to change the borrowing time. Changing the borrowing time can only be done when manually borrowing a title.

How to Have Holds Automatically Checked Out (or Not!)

By default, Libby is configured to automatically borrow and download a title on hold for you when it becomes available.

  1. Open Libby and tap on the Libby icon at the upper right of the screen.
  2. Tap on Set Up Libby in the menu to the right.
  3. Tap on Choose Download Behavior.

On the next screen, notice that Everything is checked for automatic download. You can set Libby to only automatically download titles under 20 megabytes in size, or to download nothing automatically. You can also optionally de-select Download only on wifi (IMPORTANT – ONLY de-select this if you have unlimited cellular data available to you; otherwise a cost may be incurred with your cell phone service provider).

How to See Newly Added eBooks

On the Libby home screen, tap on Explore.
Tap on What’s New?
Tap on All New Titles, New in Books or New in Audiobooks.
