If you do not live in White plains:
A) You may use the White Plains Public Library if you have a library card in good standing from your Westchester home library.
For Westchester Residents who have not obtained a library card from their home library and would like to use the White Plains Public Library on a temporary basis, please contact the Circulation desk at 914-422-1490 for more information.
B) If you live outside Westchester County, but work, go to school or own property in White Plains, you are eligible to receive a White Plains Public Library card.
Anyone eligible for a card may use the online form provided below and upload proof of White Plains Employment/School enrollment: work or school ID or letter from school or employer. Library cards will be mailed to the street address (no post offices boxes) provided. Please include the apartment or suite number with the street address. If you apply online, we’ll email you a library card number. Once you receive it, your card number can be used immediately to check out books, music, movies, hotspots and museum passes; reserve books; use a computer; download and stream eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies and music, plus access free online tools and resources.
You can also apply in person at the library. Two forms of ID (1 with current home address, 1 with current White Plains work or school address or proof of property ownership) are required.
C) If you live outside of Westchester County and DO NOT work, go to school, or own property in Westchester, you may purchase a card from the Westchester Library System at an annual fee of $75. For patrons aged 65 and over, a System card can be purchased at a discounted price of $35. This application form, available for new cards and renewals, should be sent directly to WLS with your payment. Your card will be mailed to you directly from the Westchester Library System and is honored at all Westchester public libraries.
