Paws to Read

The Library is so excited to bring back a “read to a dog” program, with Paws to Read during which children in grades K-6 can read with therapy dog Rufus. Paws for Reading takes place on Fridays – June 28, July 12 and 26, August  2 and 9 – from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Spots are limited to five children per session.  Sign up at the Compass Desk in the Trove starting 30 minutes prior.  Reading with a therapy dog has numerous benefits for children. Storytimes: In-Person Update

Storytimes: In-Person Update

We are excited to announce that we will be bringing back in-person Storytimes for Ages 2-6 beginning in April. Storytimes will take place outside on the Library Plaza with an inclement weather backup plan, as follows, below. On the Plaza, we ask that you seat yourselves as you feel comfortable, but please do give the Librarian socially distanced space. Masks are not required, but may be worn if you so choose. The Library is excited to join the free nationwide program, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program is designed to help caregivers connect and prepare their children for kindergarten by reading together.  Research has demonstrated that reading to children at a young age has a direct positive impact on their cognitive development and later academic success.
