Be Inspired by The Trove's 2013 Summer StoryWalk®

Be inspired to discover the world! Children in grades 1 through 6 and their families are invited to take a walk along the Trove's 2013 Summer StoryWalk®, which opens Monday, July 1 at 10:00 am in the Trove. Come take a walk any time The White Plains Public Library is open throughout the months of July and August until the Walk closes on Friday August 30 at 6:00 pm.

The book being featured is, The World is Waiting For You, written by Barbara Kerley and published by the National Geographic Society. Along the StoryWalk® you will view a series of National Geographic photographs which highlight present day and future explorers seeking out their world. Imagine what it is like to dive with dolphins in the Atlantic Ocean, dig up fossils in Africa, climb rock cliffs in California, examine huge cave crystals in Mexico, take a walk outside the International Space Station, paddle river rapids in Wyoming, and go paragliding high above Argentina!

Before beginning, be sure to pick up a form at The Compass (information desk) in The Trove. The first stop is in the window next to The Sailaway. Follow the arrows as you proceed at your own pace through the rest of the stops. Complete the form and turn it in at The Compass. You will receive a prize and be entered in the final drawing.

Now that you have been inspired, think about what you want to do and be challenged to dig in and go do it!

Note: The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
