Plan to visit The Trove to view the ongoing Art Fair showcasing works created by young children. These artists are all enrolled in the Family Services of Westchester Head Start, Universal Pre-K and Prime Time classes at the Slater Center, Eastview School and Rochambeau School in White Plains.
The Art Fair is now in its second year in The Trove, having begun in 2006 at the Slater Center by Head Start teacher, Pat Foendoe (Miss Pat). This year’s Fair opened on April 17 and runs through June 13. Included are 6 different displays highlighting the art techniques of artists and illustrators Eric Carle, Chuck Close, Rosa Maria Curto, Lois Ehlert, Don Freeman, and Piet Mondrian.
The focus is on the themes “Growing Up Healthy” and “Nature All Around Us.” Through art, the children have explored the environment of growing plants along with the sky, weather and seasons. With their classes, they have visited The Trove to view the displays and listen to stories about creating art. Afterward, they have proudly brought their families back to The Trove to show them their work.
Once again, we are reminded that the library serves to bring the community together to celebrate the exchange of information, culture and art, even among its youngest patrons.
