School Art Show Comes to the Library!

The White Plains City Schools will hold their annual art show in the Library, May 29 through June 4. Every school will be represented by artists in Kindergarten through High School. More than 300 works will be on display and will include paintings, drawings, and sculptures. An opening reception will be Thursday, May 29 from 5-7pm in the Museum Gallery. Professor Suzanne Vromen passionately refutes this notion in “Debunking the Myth of Jewish Passivity During the Holocaust,” part of the Distinguished Lecturer series sponsored by the Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center on Sunday, May 18 at 1 pm at the White Plains Library, 100 Martine Avenue, White Plains. Children's Art On Display In The Trove

Plan to visit The Trove to view the ongoing Art Fair showcasing works created by young children. These artists are all enrolled in the Family Services of Westchester Head Start, Universal Pre-K and Prime Time classes at the Slater Center, Eastview School and Rochambeau School in White Plains. The Art Fair is now in its second year in The Trove, having begun in 2006 at the Slater Center by Head Start teacher, Pat Foendoe (Miss Pat). Video Game Design Workshop

Teens can create a 3D video game about safety behind the wheel with Unity, a powerful game engine. A class consisting of four sessions (May 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th, from 4pm – 5:30pm) will be held in the Edge and will demonstrate the realities of designing a video game from scratch. This is part of the Allstate Readiness Series – the video game will be used to show teens the dangers of distracted driving.
