Up in Space and Sea Life were the themes that kicked off a new series of math and science storytimes in mid-January in The Trove. The storytimes offer demonstrations, including stories, interactive activities and crafts, of 12 new Bag-A-Tales available soon for checkout. Funding for the bags and storytimes has been provided by the White Plains Library Foundation through a Target Early Childhood Reading Grant.
Each of the storytimes demonstrates a new bag containing fiction and non-fiction math and science books plus learning materials and suggestions for using the books with children in preschool through second grade.
The series continues through March and April with the following themes:
Sunday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. – Simple Machines
Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. – Let’s Measure!
Sunday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. – Bugs
Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. – Weather
Sunday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. – Cuentos: Formas Geométricas (in Spanish)
Sunday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. – Shapes
Join us in this opportunity for young children to be introduced to and inspired by exciting math and science concepts!
