Battle of the Books

Here at the Trove an elite group of voracious readers are preparing for battle. They will be marching off to the Westchester Library System’s “Battle of the Books” to be staged at Ossining High School on October 14th. Librarians across the county have chosen 5 books (Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis, Cracker by Cynthia Kadohata, Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins, Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea, and Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein) which will be the fodder for a fierce trivia challenge. The Trove’s platoon of eight 5th and 6th graders (the self named “Raging Pages”) have been attacking these titles head-on in our weeks of preparatory sparring sessions. We are eager & excited to start the surge…… Let the Battle begin!!

The “Battle of the Books” is a county wide program made up of teams from participating Westchester County Public Libraries. It is a friendly competition, focusing on reading good books, teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun!
The Edge will also be sponsoring a team of 6th through 9th graders. They will be reading a different set of 5 books appropriate for young adults. Please note: The Edge squad is currently in need of more readers out for fun, adventure and glory!
If you are interested in more information contact Deb or Bonnie in The Trove at 422-1476 (5th & 6th grade team), or Kat in The Edge at 422-1481 (6th through 9th grade team).
We are always on the look-out for a few good recruits!
