Books and pizza! What could be better??
Here at The TROVE our Book Bunch groups feast on this perfect pairing!
Book Bunch is the TROVE’s book discussion program for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th and 6th graders. It offers students an opportunity to read something fun, new and challenging, and then talk about it with other kids over pizza at Uno Chicago Grill. The creative juices get flowing as book ideas & opinions are exchanged while pizzas are hand-made, sent off to the oven, and then enjoyed together.
Book Bunch is held approximately 4 times a year during a school break period.
Uno Chicago Grill, just down the block from the Library on Martine Avenue, is the generous sponsor and host. The next program will be held the last week of December during the school holiday.
*Pre-registration is required and begins Tuesday, December 1.*
Come into The Trove to register, and pick up your free copy of the selected title, which is yours to keep. Space is limited to 15 participants for each session.
3rd and 4th graders will be reading The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes. Follow young Billy Miller as he works his way through second grade. This funny story starts out with a bump on the head at the end of summer vacation and continues through the year with how Billy deals with every day life as an elementary student, including friendships, sibling rivalry, and learning how to help his busy working Mom and stay-at-home Dad. We will meet at Uno Chicago Grill on Tuesday, December 29, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
5th and 6th graders will be reading Skellig by David Almond. Two lonely children form a bond when they secretly take on the care of a crusty, otherworldly old man living in a ramshackled garage. Skellig is a mystical story of love and friendship. We will meet at Uno Chicago Grill on Wednesday, December 30, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Hope you might join us!
Satisfy your appetite for a good book…..and pizza!!
