While the Library undergoes renovations, our 1st Wednesday Poetry Slam and Open Mic is moving to Grace Church for October and November! Just like our slams at the Library, please register between 6:30 and 7:00 PM for the Open Mic or the Slam. Slam poets should bring one original poem of up to 3 minutes. Registration closes promptly at 7, and the program starts shortly thereafter.
October’s guest poet is Taylor Steele. Steele is a Bronx-born, Brooklyn-based writer and performer. Her work can be found at such esteemed publications as Apogee Journal, Drunk in a Midnight Choir, Rogue Agent, Blackberry: a Magazine, and more. Her chapbook “Dirty.Mouth.Kiss” will be available Fall 2016 on Pizza Pi Press. Taylor is a content writer for The Body is Not an Apology and Philadelphia Printworks, and is an internationally ranked spoken word artist. She is a triple-Taurus who believes in the power of art to change, shape, and heal.
Grace Church is located at 33 Church Street, right at the corner with Main Street. Local poet and slam-master Eric ZORK Alan is our co-host. All are welcome! Questions? Contact program librarian Ben Himmelfarb by phone (422-6980) or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org). Poetry Slam is a project of the White Plains Library Foundation.
