December Programs for Younger Kids

Great programs for younger children take place all month long, every month, at the Library.  See our online calendar or stop in the Trove for location information.

Some programs require advance registration, while others may require a ticket. If registration is required, details will be provided for how to register on our online calendar. If a program requires a ticket, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis starting 30 minutes before the program.

Tiny Tots!
0 – 24 months, with a caregiver
Fridays, 11:00 a.m. – December 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – December 5, 12, 26
Ticket required. Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Interactive songs and fun in a lapsit format for wee ones up to 24 months old and their caregivers.
Storytime!
Ages 2-6, Families
Mondays, 11:00 a.m. – December 4, 18
Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. – December 7, 21, 28

Stories, songs and fun! Following Storytime, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Bilingual Family Storytime
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – December 6
Families will listen to a bilingual story, sing bilingual songs and make a craft. This program will be in English and Spanish.
K-2 Hour
Grades K-2
Thursdays, 4:30 pm. – December 7, 14, 21, 28

Storytimes, virtual experiences in the Igloo, and STEAM programs for grades K-2.
Let’s Groove! with Miss Lisa
Ages 1-5
Monday, 11:00 a.m. – December 11
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Join Miss Lisa and her guitar for a fun-filled music class and be ready to dance to a bunch of tunes!  Following Let’s Groove, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Storybook Dancing with Steffi Nossen School of Dance 
Ages 1-5
Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – December 13
A creative, movement-filled program for young ones to hear stories and then dance them to life!
Family Storytime: Hanukkah Lights
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – December 13
Listen to the story of Hanukkah, sing holiday songs & make a take-home craft.
Author Visit Storytime: Amalia Hoffman Hanukkah Storytime
Ages 2-6, Families
Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – December 14
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Join local author and artist Amalia Hoffman in celebrating a colorful and creative Hanukkah! Amalia will demonstrate how she created amazing textures for each night of Hanukkah. We'll create our own bright lights and have fun! The presentation will include lighting an electric menorah, coloring pages and sing-along.  Following the program, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Move & Groove with Miss Jolie
Ages 1-8, Families
Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. – December 19
Referred to by a parent as the “best program we’ve ever attended at any library,” Miss Jolie performs with her ukulele along with other musical instruments and props for the children leading them in a high-energy, high-fun program.  Following Move & Groove, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Rock Your World Kids Concert
Up to age 6, Families
Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – December 20
Join Miss Armelle for an educational multicultural music show! Miss Armelle brings instruments for all to join in this performance of global tunes which include traditional favorites and new songs. Following the program, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Family Storytime: Christmas Time!
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – December 20
Listen to stories, sing songs about the holiday & enjoy the traditional poem “The Night Before Christmas”, by Clement Clarke Moore. Make a take-home craft with your family.
One World Concert
Children, Families, All ages
Thursday, 2:00 p.m. – December 28
Chris Merwin's One World concert is a musical exploration of sounds and music from around the globe. Chris has spent decades learning instruments from all around the world, including steel drums, the Japanese shakuhachi flute, and a 10-foot Tibetan trumpet. Come learn about different instruments, dance, and take part in this fun, musical experience.
Family Storytime: The Sound of Kwanzaa
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – December 27
Listen to the story of a family celebrating Kwanzaa, sing songs & make a take-home craft.
