January Programs for Younger Kids

Great programs for younger children take place all month long, every month, at the Library.  See our online calendar or stop in the Trove for location information.

Some programs require advance registration, while others may require a ticket. If registration is required, details will be provided for how to register on our online calendar. If a program requires a ticket, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis starting 30 minutes before the program.

Tiny Tots!
0 – 24 months, with a caregiver
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – January 2, 16, 30
Fridays, 11:00 a.m. – January 5, 12, 19, 26
Please note Tiny Tots will be each Friday morning and alternating Tuesday mornings.
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Interactive songs and fun in a lapsit format for wee ones up to 24 months old and their caregivers.
Bilingual Family Storytime
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – January 3
Families will listen to a bilingual story, sing bilingual songs and make a craft. This program will be in English and Spanish.
Storytime!
Ages 2-6, Families
Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. – January 4, 11, 18, 25
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – January 9
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Stories, songs and fun! Following Storytime, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!

K-2 Hour
Grades K-2
Thursdays, 4:30 pm. – January 4, 11, 18, 25
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Storytimes, virtual experiences in the Igloo, and STEAM programs for grades K-2.
Celebrate Three Kings Day/Día de Reyes
Families
Saturday, 1:00-4:00 p.m. – January 6
Enjoy an afternoon of live performances, virtual reality, a storytime with a craft and more for the entire family. Meet the Reyes!
Storybook Dancing with Steffi Nossen School of Dance 
Ages 1-5
Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – January 10
A creative, movement-filled program for young ones to hear stories and then dance them to life!
Family Storytime
Ages 3+, Families

Stories, songs and crafts for the family.
Family Storytime: Celebrate the Wolf Moon & Wolf Conservation!
Ages 3-8, Families
Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – January 20
Celebrate the Wolf Moon (January's Full Moon on 1/25) and learn about wolf conservation efforts, the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, and a storytime reading of, Trumpet the Miracle Wolf Pup: Trumpet Finds Love, followed by a craft activity! The Trumpet book series was written to introduce young children to the joy of learning about wolves, wolf conservation and saving critically endangered species.
Let’s Groove! with Miss Lisa
Ages 1-5
Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. – January 23
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Join Miss Lisa and her guitar for a fun-filled music class and be ready to dance to a bunch of tunes!  Following Let’s Groove, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Holocaust Remembrance Day Author Visit
Ages 7+
Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – January 27
Award-winning local author and artist Amalia Hoffman will share her personal journey and inspiration in writing her Junior Library Guild and Gold Selection book, The Brave Cyclist: A True Story of a Holocaust Hero in a program for ages 7 and up. Join in a discussion about how Gino Bartali's heroic acts during the Holocaust can inspire us to achieve social justice and fight antisemitism, racism and bullying. Find out what “Tikun Olam” means and how each one of us can contribute to making the world a better place. The presentation will include viewing pictures from the collection of Gino Bartali’s granddaughter.
