February Programs for Younger Kids

Great programs for younger children take place all month long, every month, at the Library.  See our online calendar or stop in the Trove for location information.

Some programs require advance registration, while others may require a ticket. If registration is required, details will be provided for how to register on our online calendar. If a program requires a ticket, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis starting 30 minutes before the program.

Storytime!
Ages 2-6, Families
Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. – February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – February 6
Storytime! will be each Thursday morning and alternating Tuesday mornings.
Ticket requiredPlease pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Stories, songs and fun! Following Storytime, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Tiny Tots!
0 – 24 months, with a caregiver
Fridays, 11:00 a.m. – February 2, 9, 16, 23
Tuesdays, 11:00 a.m. – February 13, 27
Tiny Tots will be each Friday morning and alternating Tuesday mornings.
Ticket required.  Please pick up tickets in the Trove starting 30 minutes before the program.
Interactive songs and fun in a lapsit format for wee ones up to 24 months old and their caregivers.
Family Storytime: Lunar New Year
Ages 3+, Families
Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – February 3
Featuring a book celebrating the Lunar New Year, a book about how the animals of the year were chosen, and make a cool fire-breathing dragon craft to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.

Stories, songs and crafts for the family.
Traditions of Chinese Acrobatics
Families, All ages
Saturday, 1:00 p.m. – February 10
Come see acrobat Li Liu perform hand balancing, plate spinning, ribbon dancing, diabolos and foot juggling; in addition to explaining some of the traditions of Chinese New Year, teaching some basic Chinese phrases and encouraging the audience to imagine how their life might be different if they’d grown up in a different time and place.
Storybook Dancing with Steffi Nossen School of Dance 
Ages 1-5
Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. – February 14
A creative, movement-filled program for young ones to hear stories and then dance them to life! Following Storybook Dancing, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
West African Dance Performance
Families, All ages
Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – February 17
Join Amanda Armenteros for a full immersive traditional West African Dance class. Learn the history of where the dance and rhythms originated and the stories behind the movement. Come ready to learn, move and explore traditional African music!
Move & Groove with Miss Jolie
Up to Kindergarten
Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. – February 20

Recently referred to by a parent as the “best program we’ve ever attended at any library,” Miss Jolie‘s Move & Groove program infuses learning and movement with music, stories, and lots of silliness! Following Move & Groove, children and caregivers are invited to Toy Time in the Story Trove – a time to play and socialize!
Family Storytime: Take a Leap into Leap Year!
K – Gr. 6, Families
Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – February 29
Celebrate the once-ever-four-years extra day in February, Leap Day!  Enjoy “leaping” around while learning about animals, make some origami jumping frogs & listen to stories & songs about frogs
