Short Story Book/Film Discussion – Fall 2024

Join White Plains Librarian Barbara Wenglin as we launch our Fall Zoom Story Series using the rich anthology, “Stories of Books and Libraries” (ed. Jane Holloway, Everyman's Pocket Classics, 2023).

Copies of the series anthology, Stories of Books and Libraries, are available to borrow through the catalog with one held at the Reference Desk for reading in the Library. These vibrant and varied selections by diverse authors pay tribute to the written word in works published throughout history, to their readers, and to the intriguing, sometimes magical, places that house them. Dates of the series are: 9/26/24, 10/10/24, 10/31/24, 11/14/24 (film discussion), 12/5/23, 12/19/24, 1/2/25, 1/23/25 (film discussion). For the first session on September 26, please read “Exchange” (p.9) by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Ray Bradbury, reflecting the warm, enduring relationship between a librarian and the now-grown boy she inspired Remaining story and film selections to be announced. Register for the full zoom series and attend when you can. The program is supported by The Friends of the White Plains Library.  All are welcome, including newcomers!
