School Art Show Comes to the Library!

The White Plains City Schools will hold their annual art show in the Library, May 29 through June 4. Every school will be represented by artists in Kindergarten through High School. More than 300 works will be on display and will include paintings, drawings, and sculptures. An opening reception will be Thursday, May 29 from 5-7pm in the Museum Gallery. UNSEEN ROLLING STONES, LED ZEPPELIN, CLAPTON AND OTHER PHOTOGRAPHS 1967-76

On view March 10 – April 27, 2014 in the White Plains Library Gallery, this exhibit celebrates the golden age of rock and roll in photographs, some never before exhibited, taken by Tapani Talo, a White Plains resident, architect, photographer and, during the time the photographs were taken, a sound engineer for some of the most iconic bands of the era. Ebru-Water Marbling Demonstration

The White Plains Public Library with the collaboration of the Turkish Cultural Center of Westchester present the elegantly beautiful ancient art form of Ebru – Water Marbling to the community. Artists Yurdagul and Yasemin Ozsavasci will create elegant works of art by dripping special paints over a water table, which disperse into free flowing designs of floral arrangements. Hacker Academy

The White Plains Public Library is proud to announce the first in what is expected to be a series of exciting new technology programs geared specifically for teens: Hacker Academy: How to create and program your own computer. In this course, consisting of four one and a half hour sessions from July 11 through August 1, teens will be introduced to the world of small board computers as well how to hack them to boot and use Linux. Provided for each of the 10 participants in the course is an Android-based computer, specifically the APC 8750 from VIA Technologies, Inc.
