Summer Reading at White Plains Public Library: 6/28 – 8/20
Summer Reading at the Library kicks off Monday, June 28 and runs through Friday, August 20. Reading activity will be logged online with READSquared. More information on Summer Reading at White Plains Public Library can be found here.
Grab&Go: Kits
Grab&Go: Kits are fun and educational activities to do at home. Kits are available in a variety of age ranges throughout the month, including for Grades K-3 and Grades 4-8. Dates that new Kits are available for pickup can be found on our online calendar.
STEAMy Summer Days from the Edge
Grades 6-10

From more tech-focused programs to arts-based workshops, starting June 28 we are offering a different topic weekly. Registration is required for each workshop. Book Bunch: Comics
Grades 4-8

Calling all readers in Grades 4-8! Join Youth Services librarians Ashley and Kat for a mini-series of book groups featuring some truly awesome graphic novels. More information on the graphic novels and how to join the discussions here.
Virtual Tabletop Games
Grades 4-12
Mondays, 4:30 p.m. – July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23
Kids and teens in Grades 4-12 are invited to join librarians Ashley and Erik from the Trove and the Edge to play fun virtual tabletop games using the boardgamearena.com platform while chatting via Zoom. Kids and teens that haven’t come to the program before will need to create a free boardgamearena.com account. Note: As with all youth-focused programs a registered Zoom account is required. Boardgamearena.com does have a for-pay premium service. Please take care when creating your account to not incur any unwanted charges. On the day and time of each program, simply login to your boardgamearena.com account and join us on Zoom using the links for the specific dates you wish to attend.
Minecraft for Teens
Grades 6-12
Tuesdays, 4:00 p.m. – July 13, August 10
In this session, youth are invited to play Minecraft together online in a safe environment. Activities will include working together to survive in a natural environment or building things collectively in creative mode. All are welcome to partake in some fun with library friends and Digital Media Specialist Austin Olney. Participants must own Minecraft (non-java version) on either Windows 10, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, or Oculus Rift to join the private server. Virtual Chess Sessions
Grades 3-12
Thursdays 4:00 p.m. – July 15, August 12
Want to practice playing chess? Sign up to play against a fellow library friend or even challenge Austin Olney, the library's Digital Media Specialist, to a match using the lichess platform. Time slots will be sent following registration. From beginners to experts, all youth are welcome to join!
TaleWise presents STEM stories and fun

TaleWise presents interactive and educational STEM programs with movement, science experiments and lots of hilarity!
Creative Design Help (for Youth and Parents)
Grades 3-12 (and parents)
Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. – July 22, August 19
There are so many ways for youth to be digitally creative, whether it is coding, animation, game development, 3D modeling, audio/video editing, music making or something else altogether! This session will provide individualized help in either learning one of these skills or solving a particular, related issue. Whether a beginner or expert, parent or child, all are welcome to sign up and receive a time slot.
Fortnite with Friends
Grades 6-12
Tuesdays, 4:00 p.m. – July 27, August 24
All are welcome to partake in some Fortnite fun with library friends. Squad up with Digital Media Specialist Austin Olney on either Windows, Android, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation. Email aolney@whiteplainslibrary.org for questions and help.
Virtual Youth Meet-up
Grades 6-12
Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. – July 29, August 26
Have a computer or smartphone? Join library friends Austin and Kat in a virtual online space for teens using the Roblox platform. Participate in a variety of fun challenges!
