This Month in the Edge: September 2023

We are so excited to start a brand new school year! We're hoping to see new and familiar faces, and we've planned a bunch of different fun things for grades 7-12. From our new College and Career Club to the monthly After Hours for grades 9-12, we have a range of options available. Stop by anytime during Edge hours to say hello and find out more about the Edge. Join Caroline and Kat for a book discussion and trivia game for 4th through 8th graders! We will be reading Middle School Misadventures by Jason Platt. Newell signs up for the Middle School talent show but isn’t sure what type of show he can provide for his school. Newell thinks of numerous possibilities, such as singing, juggling, and magic; however he doesn’t have the talent for any of these activities and Newell also doesn’t want to be in the spotlight.

Reading & STEM Buddies Return

We’re excited to announce the return of two popular programs:  Reading Buddies and STEM Buddies! Reading Buddies Grades 2-5 Tuesdays, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – July 11, 18, 25; August 1, 8, 15 Space is limited.  Sign up in the Trove starting at 4:45 p.m. Children can practice reading with a teen Reading Buddy. Reading Buddies will be available to read one-on-one with children for 15 minute sessions in the Trove. Science Heroes: Saving Earth Together STEM Show Children, Families Tuesday, July 25, at 2:00 p.m. Talewise presents this action-packed story where two unlikely heroes work together to save their town (and the planet) from a super-polluting mastermind! Summer STEAM Events

Please join us at the Library this summer for two fun STEAM activities for grades 1-6 in The Trove. On Wednesday July, 12th we will be kicking off our Summer STEAM programs by learning how to create bubbles. After we make our bubbles we will use pipe cleaners and beads to create a bubble wand so that we can test our STEAM experiment. We're thrilled to announce that the Westchester Battle of the Books tournament is returning to its original, in-person format this year!
