FAQ About the Foundation

What’s the mission of the White Plains Library Foundation (WPLF)? The WPLF is a private, nonprofit organization incorporated in 1995 to help the White Plains Public Library reach its long term goals. I thought the Library was supported by the City of White Plains? It is. The City supports all the operations, maintenance, and staffing at 100 Martine Avenue – an 82,000 square foot facility that’s (usually) open over 60 hours a week. However, like many public libraries, our Library relies on private contributions to fund programs, capital projects, and timely opportunities that may not be covered through the City’s

The Library’s Future

The White Plains Library Foundation is dedicated to the long term success of the Library and we hope you'll join us in thinking about the future. Public libraries benefit from planned gifts that make it possible to adapt to changing community needs, especially during uncertain economic cycles that can affect government budgets. That's why we're asking you to consider providing instructions in your will for a planned gift. Making plans for a future gift creates a legacy for generations to come and helps ensure the Library stays responsive, innovative, and accessible. Bequests are a common type of planned gift and it's
