Holiday and Vacation Programs in The Trove

A week off from school! What to do with this gift of time? Come to The Trove. On Sunday, December 23, we will have ¡Feliz Navidad!, a family storytime in Spanish. The following Sunday, we will have Lionheart Puppets perform The Reluctant Dragon. Both programs are at 2 p.m. On Wednesday, December 26, Stories & Stuff for children age 4 & 5 will be at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the family program Pajamarama is at 7 p.m. On Thursday, December 27 at 4 p.m., there will be a special holiday Jeopardy game for children seven years and older.

Sleepover in The Trove

Did anyone ever wonder what goes on in the library after the doors close at night? Well, we offer the chance for your child’s stuffed animal to sleep over and find out. Coming up in November, children ages 4 to 8 years may participate in the two-part Stuffed Animal Sleepover program in the Trove. On Friday, November 16, 2012 children can bring their stuffed animals friends to the library to listen to stories, make a craft, and tuck the animal friends in. Halloween Stories – Intergenerational Halloween Storytelling

This Saturday, October 27 at 3:30 p.m., renowned storyteller Carol Birch will present an intergenerational Halloween storytelling performance for children in second grade and up, and adults. No younger siblings, please – it will be too scary. To make sure everyone is safe and comfortable, tickets will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis 30 minutes before the start of the program. A Back to School Tip for Parents

For kindergarten and elementary school students, a library card should be part of the school supply list. The White Plains Public Library and The Trove give children library cards from birth because the librarians believe that reading aloud to a child is the best preparation for reading. (And studies support this.) Make a trip to The Trove part of your family routine. Every week or two come get some great stories to take home. Choose a program (or several) to attend. Bilingual Family Night

Whether you and your child speak Spanish, English or something else, all are welcome to our monthly bilingual family night! Join us for this storytime in English and Spanish for children ages 3+ and their families. We will listen to Delicious Hullaballoo / Pachanga Deliciosa, by Pat Mora. This beautifully illustrated story talks about friends, family, food and fun.  Do you know what you need to do to celebrate a great pachanga?
