October Programs for Younger Kids

Some great regularly occurring programs for younger children take place all month long, in-person, at the Library. Check the online calendar or ask in the Trove for specific locations for each event.

Autumn StoryWalk: Full of Fall
On display on the Library Plaza through Wednesday, 11/30

Enjoy a storytime with local author Deborah Johnson to celebrate her book Eggplants on the Farm: Adventures with Little Chef Debbie.

Storytime & Craft: A Peruvian Folktale – Moon Rope
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – October 12
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a story about a Fox, a Mole, and their trip to the Moon, followed by a craft.

Storybook Dancing with Steffi Nossen School of Dance
Ages 2-6, Families
Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – October 13
A creative, movement-filled program for young ones to hear stories and then dance them to life!

Spooky (But Not Too Scary!) Stories
Children, Families
Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – October 15
Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk brings children tales for Halloween! They'll meet the witch who puts happiness into Halloween, see “Rolly-Head” and go on a spooky interactive walk with the “Old Lady Who is Not Afraid of Anything. They will listen, laugh and leap! There's no violence nor gore, just fun, spooky tales!

Storytime Dance Party with Miss Jolie
Ages 1-8, Families
Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. – October 18
Referred to by a parent as the “best program we’ve ever attended at any library” at her program at the Library in August, Miss Jolie shares her own book, Georgie & the Ants in the Pants! Miss Jolie performs with her ukulele along with other musical instruments and props for the children.

Diwali: Celebration of Lights
Ages 3+, Families
Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. – October 19
Join Trove librarian Tata for a Fall themed storytime and craft.

Stories & Stuff
Ages 2-6, Families
Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – October 20
Celebrate Halloween by listening to some stories about bats and making bat magnets! Space is limited, pick up tickets in the Trove starting at 4:00 p.m.

Jump into Halloween! with Jumpin’ Jamie
Children, Families
Saturday, 2:00 p.m. – October 29
Kindie rock musician Jumpin' Jamie returns with his puppet friends to celebrate “Spooky Season” with a high-energy show filled with music and magic including the hit song “Ghost In My House” which has been ranked by Yahoo, Time Out NY, and Good Housekeeping as a “Top Halloween Song”.

Many of these programs are supported by the White Plains Library Foundation.
