The Edge Turns 10!

The Edge, the Library’s center for teens in grades 7-12, opened on December 14, 2013. We celebrated this tenth anniversary (or, tenth Edgeversary) at our December After Hours event. The White Plains High School Songwriters Club hosted a lively open mic event. We had games of many kinds, from chess to the PlayStation 5, and teens tested out a new racing setup with Austin in the Igloo virtual reality space. College and Career Edge Winter/Spring Series

Join us in The Edge for our College and Career Edge series this winter/spring. We'll be using our new Igloo room to host a variety of virtual and in-person programs. In the Igloo, students can experience Virtual Reality (VR) without a headset in the library's newly installed panoramic content room. White Plains After Hours for Grades 9-12

Friday, June 2nd marked the launch of a new citywide initiative aimed at offering dedicated spaces and events in the evening for White Plains residents in grades 9-12. The Library came together with various City departments and White Plains based organizations after local teens expressed an urgent need for a place to hangout in the evening. STEAM-Powered Summer in August

Our awesome series of summer programs continues! Join us for one or many. Read on for all the information. STEAM-Powered Summer A series of themed activities each week for teens in grades 7-12, in the Media Lab from 1:00-2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Reading & STEM Buddies Return

We’re excited to announce the return of two popular programs:  Reading Buddies and STEM Buddies! Reading Buddies Grades 2-5 Tuesdays, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – July 11, 18, 25; August 1, 8, 15 Space is limited.  Sign up in the Trove starting at 4:45 p.m. Children can practice reading with a teen Reading Buddy. Reading Buddies will be available to read one-on-one with children for 15 minute sessions in the Trove. Monster Invasion Teen Improv Workshop Teens Tuesday, July 25th, at 3:30 p.m. In this exciting theater workshop for teens, Talewise uses fun games and activities to explore the foundations of improv — things like characterization, how to be a good scene partner, and how to be prepared for just about anything!
