Modern Pop Art Restrospective. An exhibit by Michael Albert

American POP Artist MICHAEL ALBERT (American, born 1966) has been creating ART since his college days at New York University, where he studied business. His art has evolved from doodles with colored pencils, magic markers & pen & ink, to serious wax oil drawings, to the cubist mosaic Cereal box collages he has become known for. In the past several years he has been creating large-scale “Epic” collage works on various themes including: Historical, Biblical, Literary, Musical, Lyrical, Botanical, Logo Montages, Color Studies, Mathematical & Geographical. Maria Tavares first knew she was an artist when she was just six years old, telling her dad that she wanted to paint. In fact, at age eight she was offered a scholarship to go to art school in Mexico, but her parents could not afford the extra expenses and they needed her to stay home. SWBOCES Fashion Show

Thursday, May 16th 4:00 p.m. Library Auditorium The Library is excited to collaborate with the SWBOCES Fashion Design & Merchandising Program to host a special runway event showcasing the work of students throughout the year.  The show, titled “Fashion in Toyland,” was originally inspired by student interest and enjoyment of the Barbie film last summer.  Students then took field trips to FAO Schwarz and Toys R Us to gain more ideas for fashion designs inspired by toys. Terry Kessler Schwarz Impressions Art Solo Exhibit On display in the Museum Gallery from September 22nd through December 12 In her upcoming drawing and painting exhibition Impressions, Terry Kessler Schwarz will be presenting drawings and paintings of nature focusing on land, sky, water and city life. “The Gratitude Project” Exhibit

Artist: Hilda Green Demsky “The Gratitude Project” Painting and Poetry Exhibit Interpretive oil paintings inspired by responses of 36 United States Poets Laureate to The New York Times inquiry “What people in their State would be thankful for” during the Covid pandemic. Jamaica 60 Art Exhibit

As Jamaica celebrates its 188th year of Emancipation on August 1st and 60th Anniversary of Independence on August 6th, the Jamaican Emancipendence Committee will host an Art Exhibition at the Library, curated by renowned Jamaican artist, Michael Escoffery, with his paintings and those of other artists, including the Denzel Washington School of Arts, Mt. Vernon.  A closing reception will be held in the Library's Museum Gallery on August 31st, 5:30-8:00 p.m.  The exhibit will be on view through Wednesday, August 31st. Fair Street USA Block Party & Exhibit

Block Party: Wednesday, June 29th at 5:30 p.m. on the Library Plaza On view in the Library Gallery July 1 – July 30. Fair Street USA is a Fair Housing Education Public Art Exhibition sponsored by the City of White Plains Planning Department and funded by a HUD grant. Local community groups worked with artists to design and create interactive models that “speak” to participants.

Countdown to Eternity: Dr. MLK, Jr. Photo Exhibit

On display in the Library's Museum Gallery June 15th–July 30th. Opening Reception: Thursday, June 16th, 6:30 p.m. COUNTDOWN TO ETERNITY is a photographic tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. documenting the last year of Dr. King’s life. The photographer, Benedict J. Fernandez has captured some of the most iconic images of the 1960’s and beyond. A distinguished educator, in the 1970’s he established the Photography Departments at the New School and Parsons School of Design and created the Leica Medal of Excellence. He also received numerous awards including Guggenheim and Fulbright Fellowships and has published a number of books.

Regeneration Art Exhibit

This new exhibit will be on display in the Library's newly renovated Museum Gallery on the second floor starting Tuesday, June 1st, through Friday, September 3rd. The gallery is accessible during normal Library hours. “Regeneration” looks at a future focused on climate justice. The exhibition includes drawing, collage, mixed media, photography, painting and poetry. Participating artists are Stephanie J.
