International Film Festival Returns!

Please join us for our annual, summertime International Film Festival. On Thursdays in July and August (starting July 10) we will show films from a variety of countries. Each film will be shown at 2 p.m. and repeated at 7 p.m. Our festival has been running since 1987—27 years!— with only two summers when it went on hiatus. We hope you'll come see as many films as your schedule allows. After the festival, the films will be put in our DVD collection and you can borrow any you missed. Ebru-Water Marbling Demonstration

The White Plains Public Library with the collaboration of the Turkish Cultural Center of Westchester present the elegantly beautiful ancient art form of Ebru – Water Marbling to the community. Artists Yurdagul and Yasemin Ozsavasci will create elegant works of art by dripping special paints over a water table, which disperse into free flowing designs of floral arrangements. Virtual Computing

Have you ever seen a computer inside a computer? With VirtualBox, a free virtualization product from Oracle, you can install and use an isolated Operating System (OS) within another. Teens are welcome to join this class on December 3rd and December 10th from 5-6pm to find out how. Students will use library equipment in order to install a virtual Linux OS called “ArtistX” and learn all about it. For teens. No registration or equipment is required, limit of 10 students based on arrival time.

Multi-Sensory Storytime on Saturday, November 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Join staff from the Kiyoko Brown Lekotek Center for a storytime designed for all abilities and attention spans. It is recommended for children on the autism spectrum as well as other children with disabilities. Library Team Competes in National Poetry Slam

Library Team Competes in National Poetry Slam

The Library's poetry slam team is competing in preliminary bouts at the 2013 National Poetry Slam in Boston this Tuesday and Thursday. Hostage, Eric ZORK Alan (slammaster), Nina Robins, and AJ won spots on the team by competing in our Poetry Slam Finals in May. Assistant slammaster LV (Laura Vookles) will also travel to Boston with the team. The White Plains Library Slam will be one of 72 teams from all over the United States and Canada who will take part in the preliminaries at seven venues in the Boston-Cambridge area.
