Wanted!! Your used Legos! Are they gathering dust, no longer being played with? Why not donate them to The Trove’s Lego Club? We are especially in need of Lego mini-figures. Please bring them to The Trove on Saturday, December 8, anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Trove’s Lego Club began in January of this year and since then there have been 184 attendees at monthly sessions. Sleepover in The Trove

Did anyone ever wonder what goes on in the library after the doors close at night? Well, we offer the chance for your child’s stuffed animal to sleep over and find out. Coming up in October and again in November, children ages 4 to 8 years may participate in the two-part Stuffed Animal Sleepover program in the Trove. On Friday, October 19, 2012 children can bring their stuffed animals friends to the library to listen to stories, make a craft, and tuck the animal friends in. Business Program for Hispanic Entrepreneurs

The New York State Small Business Development Center at Manhattanville College will host an event at the White Plains Public Library on Monday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Directed towards the Hispanic community, in honor of Hispanic Heritage month, the goal of this program is to provide information and guidance to the community regarding starting a business. Artists Bob and Berenice Pliskin mount a retrospective exhibit of their work on view through November 16th in our Museum Gallery. Ms. Pliskin's work features paintings on silk. Mr. Pliskin displays his photography. Favorite puppet show Spring Valley Puppet Theater will be here on Monday, August 27 with a performance at 2 p.m. for children going into kindergarten and older. Elementary school aged children will appreciate this show featuring two stories, The Three Wishes & The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing. For kindergarten and elementary school students, a library card should be part of the school supply list. The White Plains Public Library and The Trove give children library cards from birth because the librarians believe that reading aloud to a child is the best preparation for reading. Building on the experience of Hurricane Irene, this program provides an opportunity to learn about coping with issues that may be lingering from that storm so as to be more prepared for future natural disasters. Activities will be demonstrated to improve techniques in resilience, coping, and relaxation. All ages are encouraged to attend the free program on Tuesday, August 14th, from 7-8pm.
