After Hours for White Plains Teens in Grades 9-12

As part of a citywide initiative to provide more evening activities for high schoolers, the Library is excited to offer regular evening programming for teens. Monthly, the Library will host After Hours at the Library. This is a special event, when the Library is not open to the general public, on the first Friday of the month from 6:00 – 9:00 pm for high school students who live in the city of White Plains. One-Time Adventures

Join Erica and Erika to explore one-shot, one-page role-playing games! No prior experience is necessary – the game rules are simple enough to all fit on one page – and there aren’t any long campaign commitments either, since one-shots take place in one session. Celebrate 10 Years of the EDGE – After Hours at the Library

On December 1, we will be celebrating 10 years of the Edge for December's After Hours event from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.!  This special evening will be open to all Edge patrons in grades 7-12, as well as former Edge teens!  Come take part in fun activities, celebrate the history of the Edge, and have fun! 3D Printing and Design Class

During the December Holiday school break, Librarian Erik Carlson will be teaching a class on 3D printing and design for students in grades 6-12. We start on Monday, December 27th and meet everyday through Thursday, December 30th, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. You must be able to attend all of the sessions otherwise you will miss some important info. We will be learning to use three different 3D design software programs (CAD and Mesh). Mental Health Workshop for Teens

3 Amigos Of Mental Health Tuesday, October 5 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. For Teens in Grades 7-12 On the Library Plaza under the Big Tent Click here to register. Michael Weitzman, a professional mental health advocate and comedian, will lead a workshop on acceptance, wellness tools, and solutions to mental health challenges. He will share his own mental health story from discovery to recovery. Projects on the Plaza: For Teens

In September, the Library will hold two outdoor STEM programs for teens. The programs will be on the Library Plaza, underneath the tent, on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00-5:30 p.m. September 15: Ecosystem in a Bottle Participants will learn how to take an old soda bottle and transform it into a planter. September 29: Marshmallow Launchers Participants will create marshmallow launchers using household items like toilet paper rolls and rubberbands. All participants will be expected to follow social distancing guidelines and wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
