Stone Barns Center Now Included in our Museum Pass Program

The Library is excited to announce the Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture is now available as part of our Museum Pass Program. We have 2 passes to the Center: one is specifically for Saturday visits and one is specifically for Sunday visits. The passes allow entry for up to 2 adults and 4 youth OR 1 vehicle.  You should reserve the pass for the specific day you want to visit. Note: The Center is also open Wednesday through Friday and admission is free so there is no need for a pass. Storywalk in the Park

The City of White Plains Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the White Plains Public Library, is pleased to introduce StoryWalk at Bryant-Mamaroneck Park. The StoryWalk combines a children's story with a popular walking route. Children's books are selected, the pages separated, laminated, and placed along a walking path at regular intervals so readers can follow the story as they walk the route. The StoryWalk is a great opportunity for parents, teachers, and caregivers to provide a fun and healthy activity for young children. Family Fun Day – Trumble In The Trove!

On Sunday March 22, the White Plains Library Foundation will sponsor a family fun day from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Vermont Puppetree will perform Swimmy at 2:00 pm, and comic juggler Will Shaw will entertain at 4:00 p.m. In between, enjoy gymnastics, face painting balloons, crafts, a book sale and bake sale. Cooper Hewitt Passes Now Available to Borrow

The Library is excited to announce the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is now available as part of our Museum Pass Program.  We have two passes to the Museum and each pass admits two adults and any children under 18. The Museum is located at 2 East 91st Street, New York, New York. Their hours are Sunday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. The Cooper Hewitt closed its doors in 2011 and underwent a major renovation and name change. Black History StoryWalk® Opens Sunday, February 15 With Little Melba and Her Big Trombone.

Celebrate black history by taking the latest StoryWalk® in The Trove! The book being featured is Little Melba and Her Big Trombone, written by Katheryn Russell-Brown and illustrated by Frank Morrison. It is the story of African American jazz musician Melba Doretta Liston, the first woman trombonist to play in the big bands during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s — how she selected the trombone as her instrument, taught herself how to play it, and later went on to teach many of the great musicians of the twentieth century. New Westchester Symphony performs Seasonal Favorites Sunday, Dec. 14, 3 p.m.

Multi-Sensory Storytime on Saturday, November 16 at 10:30 a.m.

Join staff from the Kiyoko Brown Lekotek Center for a storytime designed for all abilities and attention spans. It is recommended for children on the autism spectrum as well as other children with disabilities. Celebrate Diwali with Us!

Learn about Indian culture in this children's program! Join us to celebrate Diwali with our Indian community. Also known as “Festival of Lights”, Diwali is a Hindu festival that celebrates the triumph of good versus evil. Kindergarten Here I Come!

School starts in White Plains on Monday, September 9. For children entering Kindergarten, it is an important time. Watch a film together with your child to help them get ready. Upbeat and authentic, this 18 minute, special video generates excitement about starting Kindergarten. An exhibit showcasing the lovely fairy houses and fairy realia of Joan Monk and Bev McAllister from the Westchester Children’s Museum: Museum Without Walls can be currently seen at the Library’s second-floor lobby and in the Trove. Mini Golf in the Library: "Tee Off for Education"
