Summer STEAM Kit: Seashells

After the Summer Solstice on Sunday, June 20th, summer will officially be underway! We’re celebrating with a summer-themed Grab & Go STEAM kit, available for pick-up on June 28th. Makers Wanted!

TV Production Camp with the Global Ambassadors

Teens from White Plains will spend two weeks learning the ins and outs of creating a short news clip for R.E.A.C.T. News. Students will learn how to research a story, write a script, interview, tell the story on camera, and edit. There will be a party on Thursday, August 20, at 12:00 PM, to see the news stories they created before they are posted online – all are welcome to the viewing. TV Production Camp is now full. TV Production Workshop Screening

This year is the second Summer TV Production Camp, a collaboration between the Library and public schools. Teens will be producing their own TV news segments focusing on local issues. Sewing on The Edge for Teens

Interested in learning to sew…and making your own beach bag and pencil case to take home? Join Sewing on The Edge with sewing instructor Kate Perri. You will learn the basics of sewing, discover how to use a sewing machine, and become familiar with the University of Fashion web resource. Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome; no sewing experience is required. This class takes place in three sessions: Tuesday 7/28, Tuesday 8/4, and Tuesday 8/11, from 3:00-5:00 pm. The Trove summer reading game begins Monday, June 29 and runs through August 14. Be a hero and READ! Each day you come in to report on books you have read, you will receive a prize. International Film Festival Coming to a Close

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this summer's festival. We plan to be back next year with a variety of acclaimed international films. Our last film will be Rudo y Cursi (Mexico, comedy/drama/sport), starring Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal, who also starred together in the critically praised Y Tu Mamá También. Rudo y Cursi will be shown Monday, August 26 at 2 p.m. and repeated at 7 p.m. All of this summer's films will be put in our DVD collection. International Film Festival 2013

Please join us for our annual International Film Festival. On Mondays in July and August (starting July 8th) we will show films from a variety of countries. Each film will be shown at 2 p.m. and repeated at 7 p.m. Our festival has been running since 1987—26 years!— with only two summers when it went on hiatus due to construction of The Trove, and one summer where it was replaced with a jazz film festival related to the Museum Gallery exhibit at the time. “Dig Into Reading” this summer in The Trove! Our Summer reading game begins June 24th and continues until August 16th.  Read exciting books and come in to tell us about it.  Every day that you report, you get a prize!  Collect summer reading passport stamps when you visit The Trove! Teen Summer Reading Program
