The Trove announces its latest item for checkout – – The Playaway Launchpad! At a recent family program, families were able to try out and play with these new mobile devices. The Launchpads, purchased from Findaway, are small computer tablets that are pre-loaded with interactive learning apps and games for children. They are durable and come packaged in a bright orange case complete with charger. Tested by children in The Trove, the Launchpads have received great reviews. Our ever-popular International Film Festival returns starting Monday, July 11. Each film will be screened at 2 p.m. on Mondays through August 15. The festival has been going since 1987 (with a few breaks for construction and the like). Because we want our festival to be international in scope, we show motion pictures from a variety of countries and cultures, including those that reflect a film-making tradition that may be very different from our own. Family Fun Day Readers’ Fair this Sunday!

On Sunday, April 10, the Trove will host a Readers' Fair for the whole family. Outside on the Library Plaza from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. will be Hudson Valley Llamas and a fire engine from the White Plains Fire Department. There will also be balloon animals, bubbles, a chalk drawing contest, a scavenger hunt, and outdoor games. Inside in the Trove will be facepainting, storytimes and crafts. At 4:00 p.m., Robert the Guitar Guy will perform after a special storytelling session. Funded by the White Plains Library Foundation.

Fifth Annual Harlem Fine Arts Show Comes to White Plains

The Harlem Fine Arts Show will celebrate its 5th Annual Event, showcasing artists and authors on Tuesday, March 29 at the White Plains Library, 6 – 9 p.m. The event showcases African American artists and authors from the New York metropolitan area. Digital Photography Exhibit

Participants of the Library's eight-week digital photography class for seniors will display their work in the Library Gallery from Wednesday, March 16, through Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Professional photographer and arts educator Lori Adams presented the workshop in which students learned the fundamentals of composition and use of light and color to create portraits and still life images. Prepare for the Citizenship Interview

Saturday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. Immigration officer Shyconia Burden-Noten of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services will demonstrate a US Citizenship mock interview to help applicants prepare for their own interview. All are invited to come and ask Ms. Burden questions related to the naturalization process, green cards, employment authorization, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Attorneys and a paralegal will be available to provide consultations to individuals and answer questions. The Westchester Hispanic Coalition will be here to help translate this program.
