Digital Photography Exhibit

Participants of the Library's eight-week digital photography class for seniors will display their work in the Library Gallery from Wednesday, March 16, through Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Professional photographer and arts educator Lori Adams presented the workshop in which students learned the fundamentals of composition and use of light and color to create portraits and still life images. A reception is planned for Tuesday, March 22nd from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Refreshments will be served. Prepare for the Citizenship Interview

Saturday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. Immigration officer Shyconia Burden-Noten of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services will demonstrate a US Citizenship mock interview to help applicants prepare for their own interview. All are invited to come and ask Ms. Burden questions related to the naturalization process, green cards, employment authorization, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Attorneys and a paralegal will be available to provide consultations to individuals and answer questions. The Westchester Hispanic Coalition will be here to help translate this program.

Chamber Music of William Eckfeld

Please join us Sunday, February 21, at 2 p.m. for a free concert featuring the chamber music of William Eckfeld, composer and performer. The program includes works for strings, piano, clarinet, euphonium and tubas. Mr. Eckfeld, a White Plains resident, was the orchestra director at White Plains High School from 1987-2013. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, he was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra before beginning his career in music education. 2nd Annual Spelling Bee

What's the Buzz? The White Plains Library Foundation is thrilled to be holding our Second Annual Adult & Teen Spelling Bee Fundraiser, on Friday, March 11, 7:30 p.m. (March 18 snow date), at the Highlands Middle School Auditorium. This year, proceeds will support The Hub, our new adult library.  Entry fees are again $75 per team, and additional donations to The Hub are very welcome!  General admission to watch the Bee is $5, and there will be a food concession and raffles. This is a self-initiated learning and practice time, NOT a class. In the Photo Editing Workshop on Tuesday, December 8th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., patrons will learn how to manipulate photos using GIMP, a free 2D graphics editor for PC, Mac, and Linux. Book Bunch is the TROVE’s book discussion program for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th and 6th graders. Hiking The Hills at Silver Lake

Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Gala to Support The Hub
