Jamaica 60 Art Exhibit

Jamaica 60 Art Exhibit

As Jamaica celebrates its 188th year of Emancipation on August 1st and 60th Anniversary of Independence on August 6th, the Jamaican Emancipendence Committee will host an Art Exhibition at the Library, curated by renowned Jamaican artist, Michael Escoffery, with his paintings and those of other artists, including the Denzel Washington School of Arts, Mt. Vernon.  A closing reception will be held in the Library's Museum Gallery on August 31st, 5:30-8:00 p.m.  The exhibit will be on view through Wednesday, August 31st. Teens in grades 7-12 can pick up a kit with project supplies at the Library, then follow along with the instructions below to make the project. Or, you can find the materials around your home and follow the instructions to make the project. Kits are first come, first served, and will become available on Monday, July 18th in the Library lobby. This month's craft is macrame keychains. The kit includes a lobster clasp and macrame cord.
